At the 2010 World Economic Forum on Latin America in Cartagena, Colombia, the A Ritmo de Cambio initiative was presented through a concert featuring Carlos Vives, Marc Anthony, José Junior, musicians from Palenque, Colombia, and Totó la Momposina, a Colombian folk singer whose music combines African and indigenous elements.
The music video of “La Tierra del Olvido” (A Song for Colombia), in partnership with Playing for Change, was unveiled during the concert and exemplified the power of music to join people from all walks of life.
The concert and the premiere of “La Tierra del Olvido” capped a day of discussion from an interactive panel and workshop session of musicians and leaders including Mark Johnson, Founder of Playing for Change; Nigel Osborne, renowned British composer, music therapist and expert in utilizing music as a tool to heal victims of violent crimes; Carlos Vives, Colombian singer, composer and actor; and Emilio Azcárraga, Chairman of Grupo Televisa and Co-Founder of the abc* Foundation.
